When Jo woke up and found she wasn’t in her normal room in Charterville, California she didn’t find anything unusual about it and instead assumed that one of the monsters at Hillhurst had messed about with some experiments and now she had ended up in a different location - she had a look round what seemed to be her side of the room, it appeared she was in a dorm room of some kind.

She spotted a calendar on the wall, “it’s October 2021 here?” she’d somehow been transported across time as well.

[Jo is now Josephine ‘Jo’ McCormick from Big Bad Beetleborgs. Door and Post are both open!]

"Who," Belle (who was still herself) asked, looking at this girl who was certainly not the roommate she'd had last night, "are you?"

"I'm Jo McCormick," she paused, "where exactly am I?" she could piece together some details but she still didn't know where exactly she had been sent.

"You're in my room," Belle said. "Mine and Jo's. At our school. In Fandom."

"Fandom?" Jo shook her head, "is that in California? That's where I'm supposed to be, but last I checked it was also 1996."

"Maryland," Belle said. "I'm not entirely sure where California is."

"Huh. I'm on the other side of country and over twenty years in the future?" Jo blinked, "I shouldn't be surprised by this point, Flabber needs to talk to the monsters about the experiments that they run,"

"You have monsters experimenting on you?" Belle asked. "That sounds horrid!"

"Well not on me," Jo clarified, because she had not yet reached that part in her canon, "but they like to perform different experiments, they're mostly harmless, especially since Flabber keeps them in line," she paused, "most of the time," even had had trouble controlling them sometimes.

"What's a Flabber?" Belle asked. "And how do you keep monsters in line?"

"He's a Phantasm," Jo said helpfully, "my brother Drew and my friend Roland and I released him from a pipe organ," she said as though it was the most normal conversation to have, "I think the monsters are kind of scared him, so they more or less toe the line for him, doesn't always work though,"

"Isn't that a sort of ghost?"

Belle. You had a ghost for a teacher this summer. Honestly.

"I think it's similar," Jo tried to remember the difference, "Flabber can't leave Hillhurst because then he'll lose his tangible form and he has magical abilities, he turned us into the Beetleborgs from the comics,"

Secret identity? What secret identity?

"Beetleborgs?" Belle repeated.

Jo, nothing you were saying made sense!

Of course, Belle was from a fairytale land where nothing made sense so it wasn't too difficult to follow.

“They’re a superhero team,” Jo said helpfully, “he gave us all their powers and everything,”

She paused, “of course it also brought the villains to life as well so we have to fight them now as well,”

Still not helping Jo.

"There's a class here on superheroes," Belle said slowly.

Well. There was a class that was supposed to be on superheroes.
